“Digital Schools of Distinction is a flagship programme which aims to promote, recognise and encourage excellence in the use of technology in primary schools.”
Scoil Chlíodhna CNS is a learning community where children’s learning is paramount, and in which staff, parents and community members also share in that learning in ways that are stimulating and appropriate to their needs in the 21st Century.
As part of this commitment to our children, all children engage in our whole-school spiral curriculum in ICT (Information and Communications Technology), which will equip them with the key 21st Century ICT skills required to thrive in today’s world.
The apps we choose for our children focus mainly on content creation, whereby the children create and develop their own digital projects, games, and stories etc. The children are encouraged to work collaboratively by communicating together in the creation of their digital projects, and by problem solving together. The children’s own creative skills and digital literacy skills are enhanced and the children are constantly empowered to challenge themselves in the area of ICT.
In recognition of the hugely important role which ICT plays in education today, our school was registered as part of the Digital Schools of Distinction program (2017 – 2018) and we were delighted to be given this prestigious award in June of 2018. Well done to everyone involved!
